TradeLink EDI - The Value Proposition

Supply Chain Series

As 80% of a businesses documents (Purchase Orders, Invoices, Payment Advices now relies on electronic transfer of information, any loss of business information is unacceptable for clients, suppliers, or trading partners (both internal and external). To maximize ROI, proactive and intelligent surveillance of business document processing is critical. Receiving an alert at the end of a day is not longer acceptable as receiving information when a problem occurs is required. A company, for example, wants to ensure that purchase orders originating in its branches are received before 10 o’clock every evening. If this event does not occur, delivery routes for the next day cannot be efficiently organized. Preventive monitoring of business processes to receive and process these orders helps guarantee higher quality of service. React appropriately thanks to centralized, customized views of monitoring information Notified of a problem, the operator can rapidly identify the root cause and correct it by operations such as: retrying the transfer, canceling the transfer, executing a proprietary script alerting the appropriate person – by e-mail for example – of the risk of client-impact from a problem in the application chain.

TradeLink EDI is designed to use its Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), to provide a company a powerful integration and document synchronization approach, which offers companies the solution for end-to-end integration of information exchanges both within the company and with external trading partners. In order to guarantee its capacity to provide this level of quality, a company must be able to rely on the correct operation of all the elements in the processing chain and the successful transmission of information. Originally designed to monitor, manage and control Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) and XML business documents, TradeLink EDI has evolved to manage, audit and control all business documents no matter what format they may be. TradeLink EDI makes it possible to monitor the different internal flows and associated applications using web services and its Business Process Execution Language (BPEL) engine as the glue to combine the solution into one centralized auditable solution. TradeLink EDI can alert system operators of problems and how to action these problems. In addition, it can supply internal and external business partners with “status” information on business information flows inside and outside an organization. Some of the benefits of TradeLink EDI are:

End-to-end flow processing

  • Data is processed by TradeLink EDI wherever it may come from and whatever its format may be, to be sent on to recipient applications with the data structure they expect, using the desired transport mode and with the appropriate timing.

  • The automation of the exchange processes makes it possible to eliminate some of the existing manual stages and to reap the rewards in terms of peed of execution and data quality.

  • The integration of external partners with internal applications guarantees consistency in the processing of information.

  • TradeLink EDI offers enhanced reliability and performance with its file exchange processes and audit system.

  • The distributed architecture of TradeLink EDI makes it capable of supporting large load increases, so enabling it to absorb the peak loads of your activity.

  • Exchange business information with suppliers, clients, internal applications and commercial partners, using the data formats that each partner requires (EDI, XML, TXT, CSV etc.) while maintaining a single centralized audit.

  • Trouble-free use of all of the different information communications methods required (AS2, Async, Bi-sync, FTP, proprietary file transfer, e-mail, value-added networks, etc.).

  • To integrate your external trading partners information with your internal applications, ERP, proprietary applications CRM etc.

  • Allow your systems to share information to your trading partners (whether they be internal or external) while eliminating undesirable redundancies and the risk of lost information that can undermine the smooth running of your business.

  • Facilitate the inclusion of new business processes in your internal or external applications to obtain a better "time to market".

  • Guarantees fault-free quality of service with permanent availability of the exchange system and the assurance that orders and invoices can never be lost.

  • Any to Any information transformations using TradeLink’s integration IDE (XMAPPER) allows for integration of documents to/from an enterprises back-end application.

Simplified monitoring, audit and alert management

  • TradeLink EDI is a robust solution to replace point-to-point interfaces with an exchange platform that reduces the number of interfaces into one centralized view of the flow of information.

  • The use of sophisticated alert management allows system users to react to critical business issues in a real-time environment.

  • TradeLink EDI highlights business issues and provides the end user with the ability to action items.

  • For reporting companies, TradeLink’s audit provides compliance to regulatory initiatives such as Sarbanes-Oxley and HIPAA.

  • Provides the ability to customize user access to allow for a centralized or decentralized monitoring approach.

  • Integrated monitoring views allow users to monitor business document flow by:

    • Business Process

    • Task

    • File

    • Document

Distributed processing:

  • TradeLink EDI is designed with a distributed architecture for getting the most out of multi-processor platforms in a logical distribution of information flows via multiple processors and multiple servers, locally or remotely, connected via web services with a single-point for monitoring and audit.

In summary, TradeLink EDI provides management, automation, format transformation, information routing and business process management with the purpose of streamlining business to meet the needs of an organization. TradeLink EDI manages the flow of business information from end to end, ensuring higher processing speeds, improved reactivity, and higher quality of service.
